Why Most Fail To Start A Side-Gig

As doctors we are trained to avoid failure at all costs. It's how we minimize risks for patients and improve outcomes. But it is also what holds us back from trying new things.

I have been an online entrepreneur for a long time.

Over the years, I have learned that most people who want to launch an online side-gig end up failing because they are too scared of failure. They think they only have one shot and it must be perfect right off the bat, and never realize this fear –disguised as perfectionism– is what’s actually holding them back.

To be honest, it took me quite a while to learn this lesson too.

Here are some other ways fear disguises itself to keep us from launching:

    • Wanting to research every step of the process before taking action.
    • Asking everyone and their uncle to validate your idea.
    • Waiting for something else to happen before committing to work on their dream.

All of these “reasons” are rooted in fear. Overcoming it is a crucial part of succeeding, moving forward, and making your online side-gig a reality.

I know it seems risky. But don’t worry, we’ve all been there.
