Every year, for the last 8 years, I've made a habit of taking two days (Thursday and Friday usually) off work to reflect on the year and plan for the next.
Today I began this process and these are the 3 areas I will focus on in 2023:
I am interested in stoicism and self-mastery because our world needs more of it.
I find our society too polarizing, with people who are not in control of their desires and emotions, and expect life to always be easy and challenge-free. I wish to continue learning and growing in self-mastery to be an example for my two sons.
#2: Medical marketing for independent doctors
One of the things that came up during my first overview is how much I enjoy working with independent doctors (and doctor-owned practices).
Working hand in hand with them as their "fractional CMO", creating a solid marketing strategy, creating systems and processes and putting a team in place so they too can build a business that serves their lifestyle, and not the other way around.
While not nearly as profitable as consulting for pharma and medtech, helping doctors practice independently is more fulfilling and frankly, more fun for me.
#3: Wealth building
I also intend to make 2023 the year in which I begin to seriously build wealth.
I'm 41 and not as far along as I'd like in terms of retirement planning and passive income generation. And while I'm not planning to "check out" anytime soon, I do want to have peace of mind knowing my kids and wife are taken care of should anything happen to me or my ability to generate an income.
These are the 3 areas I'll focus on in 2023.
One for personal growth (Stoicism), one for my professional life, and one for my family life.
What about you? Do you have an end-of-year ritual or process?
